It's easy to understand why Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert has garnered the enthusiastic support of the voters in his district. Gohmert resonates with conservatives because he is the rare politician who speaks in an honest, straightforward, no-nonsense kind of style that doesn't care who it offends. It's immensely refreshing, and an attribute that is sorely lacking in most of our elected officials in Washington.
That quality was on full display as Congressman Gohmert spoke with WIBC host Tony Katz Thursday, in an interview that delved into this week's terror attack in New York by ISIS follower Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov, and the increasing threat of future terror attacks being carried out on U.S. soil.
Congressman Gohmert implied that decisions made under the command of Robert Mueller during his tenure as Director of the FBI from 2001 to 2013 have actually made America more vulnerable to attacks from radical Islamic terrorists.
[Mueller] purged the training materials for the FBI of anything that offended the radical Islamists. And they classified what they took out and Michele Bachmann and I went and looked at what they took out. But I'll just say that if you take out verses of the Quaran from what the FBI is allowed to read and train and know, then you are not helping the country.
...They had a 700 page training material on radical Islam; they completely took that out of use and they took out anything that might offend radical Islamists.
...They don't know to ask. They don't know what they're looking for. What are the indications somebody's a radical? Because of Mueller, they have not known for years what they're looking for. There are all kinds of perfect indications that somebody's radicalized. And the FBI and Homeland Security don't know what to ask because they've been prevented from training on what a radical Islamist is.
