Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Dr. Ben Carson was in downtown Indianapolis this week attending a regional conference on fair housing law and policy.
Indianapolis is a significant area of focus where additional work needs to be done, according to Dr. Carson.
"In Marion County, a recent study by the nonprofit Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana found "significant" discrimination. An audit of Indianapolis rentals found significant discrimination among housing applicants in need of a service animals and higher levels among otherwise qualified African-American applicants."
Dr. Carson took time out during his visit to Indianapolis to speak with WIBC radio host Tony Katz. While the majority of the interview focused on Dr. Carson's efforts and initiatives as HUD Secretary, he also offered perspective on the media and political circus of late surrounding the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
"I was disappointed with the process. The rule of law is essentially for the establishment of an orderly society, and when we reach a point when unsubstantiated allegations are enough to destroy a person, we've destroyed more than one person; we've destroyed a system."
