President Trump delivered a forceful and passionate address to the nation Tuesday night as he made his case for a wall along the southern border.

The President cited the “growing humanitarian and security crisis” border, while urging congressional Democrats to compromise and bring an end to the government shutdown.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi delivered a response at the conclusion of President Trump’s remarks, choosing to articulate their case by accusing the President of governing by “temper tantrum.”

“Most presidents have used Oval Office addresses for noble purposes,” Schumer said. “This president just used the backdrop of the Oval Office to manufacture a crisis, stoke fear and divert attention from the turmoil in his administration.”

WIBC host Tony Katz offered comments on the President’s remarks and Democrats’ response on his Wednesday broadcast:

“If it’s a manufactured crisis, why did Speaker Pelosi discuss all the things that we can do to protect the border? Senator Schumer’s comments sound like we don’t have to worry about anything – literally everything is fine.

Not everything is fine – it’s okay to say. If you want to argue that President Trump has utilized statistics or data in a way to make it seem more dire, you can, just have to back it up.

But if you want to say that there an ‘no issues’ – that isn’t true. If you want to make the argument that the only issues are the ones that Trump has created because he’s implemented the policies that were also implemented under Barack Obama, well that’s just madness.

You think it’s President Trump and President Trump alone who pushed forth the policies of child separation? This has been going on. You know how you get to a zero tolerance policy? You start by having a policy.

We saw all the photos of children in cages – those were Obama era photos. You didn’t care.”
