From WISH-TV:

What would have been downtown’s fifth annual New Year’s Eve Celebration on Georgia Street has been suspended, Downtown Indy Inc. announced Monday. The nonprofit that promotes downtown said the rising cost of a free event dependent upon the weather was the main reason for shutting down the event. It had live music and culminated at midnight with the drop of an IndyCar on the east end of Georgia Street.

Two years ago, the event drew over 40,000 people. Last year, subzero temperatures a surprise snowfall earlier in the day led to a last-minute cancelation of the fun.
