Vice President Kamala Harris encourages a student to speak their truth after they accuse Israel of “ethnic genocide.”
VP Harris commemorated National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday by speaking with students at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. During the question and answer portion, one student asked in concern about the money the US is providing to Israel.
“…just a few days ago there were funds allocated to continue backing Israel, which hurts my heart because it’s ethnic genocide and displacement of people, the same that happened in America, and I’m sure you’re aware of this.”
The student then suggested the funds go towards American health care and housing instead of “to inflaming Israel and backing Saudi Arabia.”
After the student was finished, Harris said she was glad they showed such concern about Israel and encouraged them to keep questioning.
“This is about the fact that your voice, your perspective, your experience, your truth, should not be suppressed and it must be heard, right? And one of the things we’re fighting for in a democracy, right?”
Tony Katz says instead of encouraging people to speak their truth, Harris should be educating on what is the factual truth.
“There’s no truth in what she said. Your job is to tell her she’s wrong when she’s wrong.”
