Two East Side Ramps Closing for Construction

INDOT says one one ramp will be closed at a time.

More east side ramp closures are expected this weekend.  INDOT issued the following release Thursday:

Contractors for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plan pavement repairs this weekend requiring closure of the westbound I-70 ramps to I-465 on the city’s east side.  Only one of the two ramps—northbound or southbound—will be closed at a time.

The following schedule is dependent on favorable weather and subject to change:

  • Friday at 9 p.m. – crews plan to close the southbound ramp to begin removing the existing asphalt surface pavement.
  • Saturday at 2 a.m. – crews anticipate opening the southbound ramp and shifting the closure to the northbound ramp to begin milling existing asphalt and paving a new surface.
  • Saturday at noon – crews plan to shift the ramp closure back to the southbound side to finish paving.

During the ramp closure, dynamic message signs and detour route markers will direct traffic to continue west on I-70 to Shadeland Avenue (Exit 89) and return eastbound on I-70 to access I-465. All ramps are expected to open before 6 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 8.

These repairs are recurring and additional weekend ramp closures should be expected.
