INDY GRAND PRIX PRACTICE & QUALIFYING

7:30am|Indianapolis Motor Speedway

USF2000 Qualifying begins at 8am, followed by Indy Pro2000 qualifying at 8:35am. NTT IndyCar practice begins at 9:10.  Qualifying starts at 4:35.  Autograph sessions throughout the day.  $20.

 

58th ANNUAL DECORATORS’ SHOW HOUSE & GARDENS

11am|The Centennial Estate

This year’s featured house is a 9,163 sq. foot brick and timbered Tudor Revival home!  Presented by St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild and benefiting Eskenazi Health.  Open through May 12.   $22.

 

 

FOOD TRUCK FRIDAY

11am|Georgia Street – Downtown Indy

Your favorite food trucks will be serving lunch on the Georgia Street Board Walk between Capitol and Illinois Streets every Friday, through Aug. 23rd.  11am to 1:30pm weather permitting.

 

 

16th ANNUAL INDY FILM FEST

5pm|Various venues at the IMA

Final weekend of the 10-day film festival that features over 100 short & independent features, documentaries and world cinema films in a range of subject matters.  This evening, check out “Yesterday” at the Toby – 7pm.

 

 

VIRGINIA AVENUE MUSIC FEST

6pm|Fountain Square

Continuous performances at several different venues in the Fountain Square area.  The festival benefits Fletcher Place and Fountain Square neighborhoods.  All ages welcome.  FREE!  Goes through Sunday.

 

DISNEY’S “NEWSIES” THE BROADWAY MUSICAL

7pm|Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre – Carmel

The story of Jack Kelly, a care-free newsboy and leader of a band of teenagers called “newsies”.  The show goes through May 11th.   Tickets start at $48.

 

 

“FORBIDDEN BROADWAY”

7:30pm|The Studio Theater – Carmel

Broadway’s greatest musical legends meet Broadway’s greatest satirist in this funny and entertaining tribute.  Journey through more than 20 Broadway shows!  Goes through May 19th.

 

 

“FLY YOU FOOLS”

8 & 10pm|District Theatre

Produced by Loud & Fast Funny Shows.  The story of the film “Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” through live action, shot-for-shot Parody. Goes through June 1st.  $15.

 

 

MAREN MORRIS: GIRL THE WORLD TOUR 2019

8pm|Old National Centre

The best way to kick off the month of May!  The stars of the NTT IndyCar Series race the IMS road course at 3:50.   Before that, check out the Midway, driver autograph sessions and the Indy Lights race at 1:15. 

 

 

MOTHER’S DAY WEEKEND AT THE ZOO

9am|Indianapolis Zoo

Bring mom to the Indy Zoo for a day of celebrating animal and human mothers!  Mother’s Day activities include a Scavenger hunt with prizes.  Included with Zoo admission.

 

 

INDIANA NATIVE PLANT SOCIETY PLANT SALE & AUCTION

9:30am|Park Tudor School

Popular and FREE to attend.  People line up early!  Bring bags & boxes to carry away your treasures!  Pre-sale presentation is $10 and lets you shop 15 minutes early!

THE JPMORGAN CHASE 500 FESTIVAL ROOKIE RUN & KIDS DAY

Noon|Monument Circle

A great experience for your little “rookie”!  The course begins 1 block north of Monument Circle.  All participants receive a goodie bag, a runner’s bib and a finishers medal.

 

INDIANAPOLIS CHILDREN’S CHOIR – “IN HARMONY”

2:30 & 7pm|St. Luke’s UMC

Showcasing what the singers go through as they “take root” musically and grow in song, education and performance.  Special guest, the New World Youth Orchestra.  $13.  Kids 5 and under FREE.
