THE INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL

9am|Indiana State Fairgrounds Blue Ribbon Pavilion

You’ll travel the world all under one roof!  With every step, you’ll experience different cultures with dance, music, costumes, and of course…food and drink!  Entertainment all day based on art, culture, and expression, on the main stage.  Goes through Saturday.  TIX:  $8 in advance.  $12 at the door. $5 kids.

 

 

CHRISTMAS GIFT & HOBBY SHOW

10am|Indiana State Fairgrounds

Discover new holiday décor’, toys, food, and apparel.  The show features over 350 vendors, plus Santa, Karolyn Grimes who played “Zuzu Bailey” in “It’s A Wonderful Life”, and a Lego creation like no other!  Goes through Sunday.  $10-$`12.  Kids under 3 FREE.

 

 

2018 SPIRIT & PLACE FESTIVAL – “LISTENING FOR HOW WE HEAR

1pm|Pin Bureau Community Room   

FREE!  You’re invited to be a part of a social experiment fusing music and civil dialogue.  Participants will listen to the same piece of music together and it could be anything!  And then ask each other how and why the music affected them.

 

 

VONNEGUT-FEST 2018 – “VONNEGUT SESSION WITH JOHN GREEN

6:30pm|The Speak Easy – Downtown

John Green is the award winning, #1 bestselling author of “Turtles All the Way Down”, “Looking for Alaska”,” Will Grayson”, “An Abundance of Katherines”, “Paper Towns” and “The Fault In Our Stars”. He’s also a fan of Kurt Vonnegut and will discuss Vonnegut’s writing and mental health.  $15.

 

 

“FOLLOW THE NORTH STAR” REENACTMENT

6:30pm|Conner Prairie

Not suitable for children. (Under 16 Only with an Adult)  Participants travel back to 1836 and assume the role of a runaway slave on the Underground Railroad.  Be prepared, you’ll be walking on rough terrain in all types of weather.  Program starts every 15 minutes.  Nov. 10, 15-17.

 

 

AN EVENING WITH JOHN HIATT:  THE ECLIPSE SESSIONS TOUR

10am|Indiana State Fairgrounds Ag/Hort Building

Indy’s largest celebration of pets, and pet people!  It truly is the biggest pet trade show in the state.  Free contests, rabbit agility, “The Doxy Derby”, Dog Food 101, Dog Grooming competition, and lots of cool stuff to buy for your dog!  You CAN bring your dog, just be sure to sign the waiver online.

 

 

MIDWEST TOY FEST

10am|Wyndham Indianapolis West

A great opportunity before the holidays to sell your toys, collectibles, games, art, and comics!  Admission is $6 a day, or $10 for Saturday and Sunday.  Kids under 12 are FREE!

 

 

VETERANS ART DAY

10am|Indianapolis Art Center

An art-making workshop exclusively for Veterans and active duty military.  Includes glassblowing, sculpture, jewelry, woodworking, ceramics and painting.  Includes lunch.  FREE, but advance registration is required.  Goes until 3:30pm.

 

 

VETERANS DAY SERVICE in INDY

10:30pm|Indiana War Memorial

The event kicks off with a musical prelude by the 38th Division Band of the Indiana National Guard at 10:30, followed by the service at 11am with the laying of the wreaths, guest speakers, tolling of the bell, and flyover.  FREE.

 

 

VETERANS DAY PARADE in INDY

Noon|Downtown Indy 

More than 80 units in the annual parade that follows the traditional parade route on Pennsylvania, New York, and Meridian Streets.  Please come out and let those that have served our country, know how much we appreciate their service.   FREE.

 

“BATTLE OF MUDSOCK” REENACTMENT

3pm|Ambassador House in Fishers

Your chance to see the Fishers Police and the Fishers Firefighters perform an historical reenactment of the “Battle of Mudsock”!  Homemade chili and vendor beverages available for purchase.  Proceeds benefit the Fishers Police and Fire Departments, and the Ambassador House.  $12-$15.

20th ANNUAL ANN KATZ FESTIVAL OF BOOKS & ARTS

8pm|Arthur M. Glick JCC

A three-week festival featuring local, national and international authors, films and filmmakers, performing artists and fine artists.  Now through Nov. 12th.  Today’s feature, “Award Winning Shorts from the 2018 Heartland Film Festival”.  $10.

All veterans and active duty military personnel, along with everyone in their car will be admitted FREE to DNR State Parks, reservoir properties, state forest recreation areas, and off-road vehicle riding areas today in honor of Veterans Day!
