Barack Obama's High School Jersey Sells for $120,000

The 44th President of the United States' hoops jersey made headlines over the weekend.

"A high school basketball jersey believed to be worn by former President Barack Obama just sold at auction for $120,000.

The jersey is from his Honolulu prep school.

Heritage Auctions said they sold the jersey Saturday night in Dallas to a collector who wished to remain anonymous.

They came to the conclusion that it is the jersey that Obama wore in high school based off of a photo of him wearing a #23 jersey much like the one that sold at auction.

A portion of the sale will go to the school."

President Obama's basketball scouting report reads a lot like his presidency: Handles pressure well, strong with the left, but weak on defense. 

This jersey joins other presidents collectibles who have played sports before their time in politics - the likes of George H.W. Bush's baseball glove from Yale, Gerald Ford's football jersey at Michigan, and Donald Trump's pink tie from WWE. 


$120K is a lot of money for anything let alone a high school basketball jersey that may have possibly been worn by Barack Obama. But hey, spend it if you got it, right?
