Sponsor a Neighborhood Kid, Help them Pursue their Dreams

Children living in the cycle of poverty on the Eastside of Indy have a life full of fun, adventure, and personal growth ahead of them, all thanks to Shepherd Community Center. And now, you can help support those children flourish too with a donation of $27 dollars a month.

Your small donation can make a HUGE impact. Your $27 a month goes towards sponsoring a child within the Shepherd Community Center. That means your sponsored child gets 2 meals a day during the week and gives them the opportunity to attend an "A" rated Academy so that they can graduate with an "A" rated education!

Shepherd even offers an afterschool program that is full of teachers, tutors, and volunteers 4 days a week so that their students can reach their full potential!

This sponsorship not only gives children a way to learn and stay healthy, but also gives them an opportunity to pursue their dreams.

Here are a few of them:

ATANAI N. | WILL BE A FRESHMAN AT IUPUI

"Shepherd has been one of the many reasons I am prepared for college. Ever since I first started attending Shepherd’s After School program back in 2007, the staff really put a emphasis on learning. There were times when I struggled with school, however I knew that once I got to Shepherd I would feel relief. Shepherd’s staff and volunteers really want to see kids succeed and if it wasn’t for them I would probably still have a lot of unanswered questions. Shepherd Community Center also helped put people in my life that told me their stories, told me what they’ve done wrong but most importantly what they would’ve done differently. Shepherd has helped by putting a number of diverse mentors in my life who guided me onto the right path. Shepherd also offers students a lot of knowledge on college. As a teenager in high school you don’t really know how college is going to be, until you get a glimpse when you attend a college tour. Thanks to Shepherd, I went on countless college visits, both in and out of state. I was able to ask thousands of questions, which helped me figure out what I wanted to do as my next step into pursuing a career."

LUIS P. | WILL BE STARTING HIS SECOND YEAR AT IVY TECH

"Shepherd helped me prepare for college by giving me every resource I could possibly need to succeed at college.  They have taken me to numerous of tours of colleges, both in state and out state as well. They gave me and other Shepherd students the ability to find out what we truly wanted to study. Then they help by walking me through the process of applying for college, filling out the FASFA, and helping me with scholarships. Once you get to college, Shepherd doesn’t stop, they constantly want to know how you are doing and what they can help with. It definitely makes the whole process of going to, and through, college a lot easier."
