Why YOU Need To Tailgate This Football Season

Whether you like it or not, summer is coming to an end and fall is just around the corner in the Circle City. Trees are slightly starting to change from the bright green we’ve had since late May, to an orange/yellow tint. The breeze is becoming cool and you’re starting to bust out the old jeans and sweatshirts. Summer Ale taps in restaurants and bars are quickly being replaced with Octoberfest and Pumpkin flavored ales. The kids are back in school, and you aren’t mad about it.

Fall is rapidly approaching and that means one thing – football. But, more than the actual game we all know and love is the simple, yet chaotic, loud entertainment that takes place in football stadium parking lots across the country. We did it all the time in college and that doesn’t change when we become adults. You guessed it, tailgating. The one word that can bring a complete group of strangers together and an hour later they’re all best friends. It can be as simple as grilling out and having a few cold ones before kickoff, or completely decking out your car, your body, and devoting your life so much that you don’t even make it into the game. Whichever tactic is yours, you need to tailgate this football season.

Here’s the beautiful thing about tailgating - even if you personally aren’t a sports fan, there is always something at a tailgate that everyone can enjoy. For example, if you were to come to our tailgate on Georgia Street you can do activities like; corn hole, giant Jenga, listen to live music on the Buick Stage, indulge in Papa John’s Pizza, and last but certainly not least - $3 tall Bud Light cans. We also register people to win awesome prizes and hand out free station swag…just sayin’.

The point that we’re trying to make is that you  need to tailgate this football season because tailgating is meant for everyone! Good food + good drinks + good music + free prizes = a great time. We know the football fans love tailgating and that they will make their way over to the stadium afterward to cheer on their favorite team. Not a die-hard sports fan? Maybe just a little too tuckered out from the tailgate or don’t have tickets to the game? That’s the nice thing about tailgating; you have no obligation to go to the football game afterward.  Just come hangout beforehand and enjoy the great atmosphere and (hopefully) weather! Like we say here at The Fan, “Ain’t no party like a pre-party!”

So, whether it is with us, on Georgia Street as we cheer on our beloved Colts, or if it is somewhere else cheering on your favorite team, we encourage youto go tailgating this season. If it’s re-visiting your college days when you would get up at 5 a.m. and have your first drink(s) down before sunrise, or if it’s your first tailgate ever - we promise it won’t disappoint.
