INDIANAPOLIS — A third Hoosier has died from the coronavirus.
The Indiana State Department of Health confirmed the death on Friday afternoon. The patient was from Marion County and over the age of 60.

“Losing a loved one is devastating, and it’s troubling to see the toll that COVID-19 is taking on elderly residents here in Indiana and across the country,” State Health Commissioner Kris Box said in a press release. “I implore Hoosiers to continue to stay home if they’re sick and practice social distancing so that we can halt the spread of this virus and protect the most vulnerable among us.”

On Friday morning, the state health department reported 79 Hoosiers had tested for COVID-19, which was 23 more than Thursday.
