CAMPBELL COUNTY, Tenn. — The remains of a girl in Tennesse found 37 years ago have been identified as a girl who went missing from Indiana.

In 1985 the remains skeletal remains were found in the woods of Elk Valley in Tennessee. All investigators could gather, was that the body belonged to a girl probably 10 to 15 years old. With no ID, they named her “Baby Girl”.

Her remains were sent to the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification (UNTCHI) in 2007, but there was no response. Eventually the case was passed to a private forensics DNA lab, Othram earlier in this year. There her DNA matched with a possible relative living in Lafayette, Indiana.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) contacted that family who confirmed that one of their family members had gone missing decades ago.

Today, the TBI announced that UNTCHI has finally made a positive match. The remains once called “Baby Girl” belong to Tracy Sue Walker. A girl from Lafayette, Indiana who went missing at the age of 15 in 1978.

Nobody knows how Tracy ended up 380 miles in Tennessee, and being a case over 30 years old authorities are urging, if you know anything please come forward and call 1-800-TBI-FIND.
