UPDATE: Gov. Holcomb has announced that restaurant dining rooms and bars will be ordered closed later today.

Original story:

FRANKFORT, Ky.–Indiana is an island, for now. All surrounding states have had orders from their governors to close restaurants and bars, or at least the dining rooms to the restaurants. As of Monday morning, Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb had not issued that order in the Hoosier State.

“I’m gonna put out the order today to close all restaurants and bars to in-person traffic,” said Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, at a news conference Monday morning. “We are going to have exceptions in their for drive-thru, for delivery.”

Ohio and Illinois announced similar orders Sunday, while Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, announced her state’s restaurants and bars would be ordered to close by 3 p.m. Monday.

Beshear offered that his family is committing to patronizing the delivery and carry-out portions of the restaurant business.

“We need folks that are out there to be ordering take-out now, to be ordering delivery,” said Beshear, a Democrat. “My family’s gonna commit to do it for at least three meals a week. There are for us. We need everybody else to do it. These are important businesses.”

While Holcomb, a Republican, held off of an order closing private businesses, he did order that gatherings of 250 people or more not be held, to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
