North Korea Fires Missile Over Japan
WASHINGTON -- The Pentagon is confirming that North Korea conducted a missile launch which flew over Japan.
North Korea fired the missile from an area near Pyongyang and it flew over northern Japan, according to the Japanese and South Korean governments.
The missile reportedly broke into three pieces and fell into the ocean near the Japanese island of Hokkaido. The Japanese government did not make any attempt to shoot the unidentified missile down.
Japanese media said the government issued a warning to people to take refuge as the missile launch was underway. The latest launch comes days after North Korea tested three short range missiles.
