WASHINGTON, D.C.–On Aug. 8, 1974, Pres. Richard Nixon resigned the presidency. The next day he left office and Vice Pres. Gerald Ford, elected to neither office, was sworn in as president. 

The night of the president’s speech, WIBC carried not only the speech, but also an analysis of the unprecedented move and provided expert analysis from Hoosiers on the Indiana connections, of which there were several.
