GREENSBURG, Ind.–The city of Greensburg is trying to attract remote workers by offering financial incentives to move there.

Your relocation package includes $5k to offset moving expenses, a year’s membership to the local co-working space and YMCA, and gift cards to the seasonal farmers market, among other things.

“We’ve had great success so far. We’re over 500 applications already in less than a week or so. Now, we’re going through the vetting process to find us some new neighbors,” said Joshua Marsh, mayor of Greensburg, in an interview with “Fox and Friends” Thursday morning.

Marsh says you are the perfect candidate if you are working remotely with a high income, but would like that “small city feel with great schools in the Midwest.”

“We’re not looking to limit the number of applicants. We would love to have maybe 20. If we have 20 of those individuals bring their disposable income to our community, that would be more than a million and a half dollars annually,” said Marsh.

Marsh reiterates, though, that it’s more about finding the right people. He says Greensburg is home to “great schools, a terrific hospital, and a quaint and busy downtown square.”

Greensburg is also known as “Tree City.” It has had a tree growing out of the roof of its courthouse tower continually since 1870.
