INDIANAPOLIS — A portion of North College Ave. will close between 62nd Street and Broad Ripple Ave. beginning at 6 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 1.

The private construction project involves heavy steel work and will require the use of a crane in the roadway.

College Ave. is expected to reopen to traffic in early March 2022, weather permitting.

Drivers headed north on College Ave. may avoid the closure by turning left on Kessler Blvd. E. Drive, then right on N. Meridian Street before taking another right on 71st Street to eventually rejoin College Ave.

Nearby Carrolton Ave. is a one-way, southbound street and is not part of the detour. It should not be used by northbound traffic going around the closure.

Southbound traffic may turn right on 71st Street, then left on Meridian Street before turning left onto Kessler Blvd. E .Drive, which intersects with College Ave.

The closure of College Ave. will not impact the IndyGo Red Line, which runs through the area and will be maintained using the southbound lanes of College Ave. for both north- and southbound transit.

The College Ave. parking garage will remain open to southbound traffic during construction.
