INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts have named Brian A.D. Richardson, Jr., as the team’s new Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.

Richardson most recently held the same position at the IU O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs in Bloomington, Ind.

The Irsay family created the staff position earlier this year to work across all Colts departments developing and implementing strategies around social responsibility, inclusive hiring, supplier diversity, and education and training.

Richardson will also work with external stakeholders and partners to support and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the community.

“The mission of the Colts is to entertain, unite and inspire by winning the right way, and that’s why creating this new position to focus solely on diversity equity and inclusion was so important to us,” said Jim Irsay, Colts Owner & CEO.  “With Brian’s education and background in sports management and his experience building diversity programs from scratch, we are excited to welcome him to the Colts family and to empower him to make a real difference in our organization and in our community.”

Richardson earned a bachelor’s degree in sport and fitness administration/management from Culver-Stockton College in Missouri and a master’s degree in kinesiology and exercise science from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville. He also is currently a doctoral student in higher education and student affairs.
