INDIANAPOLIS — The next time you visit Lucas Oil Stadium, you may have a new place to tailgate before the game.

The Colts have spent more than $6 million in recent months on about 9 acres of land around Lucas Oil Stadium. The land is mostly vacant and has been used for parking by other companies since the stadium opened in 2008, according to the Indianapolis Business Journal.

Colts executive Pete Ward said it’s important for the team to control parking near Lucas Oil, especially for fans tailgating. Ward added that the team doesn’t have any plans to redevelop the land.
