INDIANAPOLIS–The final home football game at Ben Davis High School will be played in the afternoon instead of the evening, said Wayne Township Schools on Thursday.

The game was scheduled to be played at 7 pm on October 15. It has been moved to 3 pm.

“During our school district’s debriefing session after the events outside our football stadium on the evening of October 1, we decided to move the start time of our final regular-season home game (October 15) from 7 p.m. to 3 p.m. Both Ben Davis High School and North Central High School will be on fall break at that time, and the earlier start time will also provide us more time to honor our seniors, as is our custom at our final home game each year. We do not intend to make this time change for our football games a permanent one,” said Mary Lang, chief communications officer of Wayne Township Schools.

There was a shooting outside the Ben Davis-Carmel football game October 1. David Tillman, 18, was arrested and charged with battery by means of a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness, and carrying a handgun without a license. A 16-year-old was shot in the right arm and taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Ben Davis plays a road game at Lawrence Central October 8. Ben Davis could also host a game or two in the sectional round of the IHSAA football playoffs. Sectional play begins October 29 for Class 6A schools.
