INDIANAPOLIS — A fire destroyed the inside of a church on the northwest side of downtown Indianapolis overnight.

IFD Battalion Chief Rita Reith says firefighters were called to Greater Zion Fellowship Community Church along Harding Street a little after 11:00 p.m. Thursday night.

They got there to find flames shooting out of the top of the building. A wall of the building also partially collapsed.

Firefighters got the fire under control a little over an hour later. Reith says no one was hurt in the fire.

Reith says they are following standard procedure and calling in IMPD, IFD, and ATF fire investigators to look for why the fire started.

Greater Zion Fellowship Community Church has not held any in-person services or events since June because of the coronavirus pandemic.
