LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Some of the people who build jet airplanes in Lafayette say a vaccine requirement at their plant could eventually hurt air travel in this country.
About 50 workers at the GE Plant in Lafayette earlier this week protested the company’s vaccine mandate.
GE announced the new requirement last week.
Protest organizer James Crismore says workers were told they’d be fired if they don’t get the vaccine by December 8. He worries that will only slow down production, and could hurt airlines when they need their planes in the sky this holiday season.
GE says, as a federal contractor, it has to require all of its employees to get the shot.
