INDIANAPOLIS — Are you looking for a way to give back? Gleaners Food Bank needs help at its Indianapolis warehouse.

Gleaners says volunteers are needed to build Family Meal Boxes and staff distributions at the warehouse.

The food bank says it has over 350 open shifts next week. There are also Saturday morning volunteer opportunities for families on May 15 and May 22.

Gleaners needs over 600 volunteers each week to serve Hoosiers in need.

“When we’ve asked for help, the community has always responded,” said Sarah Estell, Senior Director of Strategic Communications. “We’re hoping they will continue to hear us and decide that giving a few hours of time during the coming weeks and months is a great way to get involved and help those neighbors who are still struggling during this time.”

While the number of families in need has declined since its peak last summer, Gleaners says is still serving twice the number of households as before the pandemic.
