INDIANAPOLIS –All lanes of I-70 WB near Emerson Avenue on the city’s east side have reopened.

A dump truck hit an INDOT electronic message board there early this morning.

Around 4:30, a dump truck was going west on I-70 between Emerson and Keystone avenues. The bed of the truck raised up and hit the INDOT sign, bringing part of it down.

“The debris field was pretty significant from this one. Not just pieces from the board, but you had pieces from the dump truck and then a second semi behind the dump truck hit the sign once it was broken down. Some debris from the top of that semi was also on the road,” said Indiana State Police Sergeant John Perrine.

No one was hurt.

Police were concerned the westbound lanes would be shut down until 2 this afternoon, but they were reopened just before 11 a.m.
