INDIANAPOLIS--A boy was shot Tuesday night on the north side of Indianapolis near Tarkington Park.

IMPD says they were called to a shooting in the 3900 block of Illinois Street, which is less than a mile away from the park.

The boy was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound. He is expected to survive. Police believe someone shot the boy from across the street at the corner of Illinois and 40th streets before driving away.

“I can’t stress how much we need the public’s help on this. So, if anyone happened to see anything at all, even if they don’t think it’s anything important, please call,” said IMPD Captain Don Weilhammer.
