INDIANAPOLIS–Police in Indianapolis recovered nearly $200,000 worth of stolen equipment at a home on the south side of Indianapolis Thursday.

The case started when IMPD’s Southwest District began investigating several burglaries.

A SWAT team went to a home in the 3200 block of West Epler Avenue Wednesday afternoon. That is near the intersection of Thompson Road and S. Tibbs Avenue. They had an arrest warrant for a burglary suspect, but they didn’t find him. Even though they didn’t find him, they saw the stolen equipment.  They returned Thursday morning with a search warrant and confiscated the items.

Most of the stolen equipment is power tools, but investigators also say they found lawn equipment, riding mowers, guns, and a car with bullet holes.

“What aggravates all of us is the fact most of these tools are taken from people who work every day. These are all tools that people use for construction or home remodels, anything like this. This is the people who get affected the worst, because, just like you and I, if something gets stolen–we’re out that,” said IMPD Officer Genae Cook.

Police are still looking for the suspect. Some of the items have been returned to their rightful owners.

If you think any of these seized items may have been stolen from you, call IMPD’s Southwest District at 317-327-6400.
