IMS Expecting to Still Hold Indy 500 Despite Coronavirus Concerns
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis 500 is still on for now.
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway says it doesn’t currently expect anything to change regarding “Month of May” plans.
“We are actively monitoring the situation and working closely with public health officials to ensure the well-being of our spectators and event participants,” officials said in a statement. “Our opening day is nearly 60 days away, which gives us time to continue gathering expert advice and evaluating the most up-to-date information available.”
The “Month of May” begins May 12 with practice for the Indianapolis 500. The race is Sunday, May 24.
