STATEWIDE — All but nine Indiana counties are getting the green light to once again put bird feeders out.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources said Thursday that it’s safe for people in most Indiana counties to feed birds once again.
Earlier this summer, DNR told people to take down their bird feeders and birdbaths because of a mystery illness that was killing songbirds.
The nine counties still asked not to feed the birds include:

  • Allen
  • Hamilton
  • Hendricks
  • Johnson
  • Lake
  • Marion
  • Monroe
  • Porter
  • St. Joseph

Avian disease experts are still working to determine the cause of the disease outbreak.
