Indiana Poised to Ban State Purchases of Huawei Phones

(INDIANAPOLIS) – Indiana is likely to ban state and local governments from buying phones from two Chinese companies.
A 2018 law bans federal agencies from using Huawei or Z-T-E phones because they give the companies access to all your data can be used to spy on the user. Legislators have voted unanimously to extend the ban to state and local agencies in Indiana. The companies would also be disqualified from bidding on government contracts.
The ban would automatically cover any other company the federal government adds to its list of firms considered security risks.
The ban will take effect when Governor Holcomb signs it.
