GIBSON COUNTY, Ind.– A man from Newburgh was arrested Wednesday night for causing a police chase and driving more than 100 mph.
State police say Cameron L. Shepherd, 19, of Newburgh was driving a 2011 Toyota Scion northbound on a county road at 107 mph at one point when a trooper tried to stop the Scion, but Shepherd refused to stop.
Police say Shepherd turned east onto Coal Mine Road and then north on another county road before parking it in the front yard of a home. They told Shepherd to get out of the Scion and he did.
Investigators say they discovered that the registration on the Scion was expired and there was Shepherd didn’t have insurance.
Shepherd was arrested on charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle (level 6 felony) and reckless driving (class A misdemeanor).
He’s being held at the Gibson County Jail.
