NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — The owners of an adult baby store in Noblesville say they are a medical supply store. The city says they are a sex shop. The store is now under the microscope for possible violations of zoning guidelines.

The store is called My Inner Baby. It’s a store that sells adult baby supplies.

“We’re a medical supply store, we sell adult diapers, and related incontinence supplies, as well as costumes for age-play, as well as any type of events where people want to participate in age regression,” said owner Ryan Polokoff.

Polokoff said age regression is used in therapy, allowing people to retreat back to a time in their lives when they felt safe.

“PTSD comes into play, we’ve got customers that are military, or ex-military, that have stressful jobs, and it’s just a coping mechanism to help deal with adulting,” said Polokoff.

But, others don’t quite see it that way. Some see the store as a supply store for those who get sexually aroused from child-like role-playing. A popular hashtag on Twitter related to this is #ABDL, which stands for “adult baby and diaper lovers.”

The city says because of this, My Inner Baby is technically a sex shop, which they are not zoned for.

Polokoff admits, that while a portion of his customers may use some of his products for role-playing, he doesn’t ask them any questions.

“We’re going to fight for what’s right,” he said. “The short of it is we’re not going to be bullied by people that want to impart morals that are theirs.”

Polokoff said his store is licensed by the FDA to sell adult diapers to people who actually need them for medical purposes. He is suing the city of Noblesville to prevent them from evicting his store from its location between State Road 37 and Herriman Boulevard.

The city has not released a statement on the lawsuit.
