NAPPANEE, Ind. — Police in Kosciusko County are investigating the theft of nearly 20 bulldogs.

Police say that 19 bulldogs were taken from a Nappanee dog breeder’s barn during the overnight hours Saturday leading into Sunday.

The dogs included 12 English bulldogs that were seven weeks old; six French bulldogs that were three months old; and one two-year-old French bulldog, according to The Warsaw Times-Union.

The dogs were valued at $3,500 each, making the heist worth $66,500.

The breeder, Homer Slabaugh, reported the dogs stolen Sunday morning after he went to the barn where the dogs were kept and found them missing.

Police say the dogs are micro-chipped, but investigators have no leads.
