ST. JOHN, Ind. — A high school in northwestern Indiana was put on lockdown Wednesday morning after a report that a student may have had a gun.

Police were called to Lake Central High School at around 9:30 a.m. CDT on a report of a possible active shooter.

Officers from several departments conducted room-by-room searches of the school. A SWAT team was also called to the school to help with the investigation.

No shots were fired and school leaders later said everyone was safe.

Two students were taken in by police for questioning, the school said.
