INDIANAPOLIS — Incoming rain could spell the end of this never-ending September summer.

“So we got this system moving in, it’s going to push up this moisture from the south,” says Meteorologist Aaron Updike with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, “so we’re going to see rain chance start coming in from the southwest parts of central Indiana.”

Rain will move in towards Sunday evening into the overnight hours, but it’s not going away for a few days.

Updike explains, “rain chances continue all the way into parts of Wednesday, so rain in the early parts of the week and then things will start to cool down.”

The rain will bring plenty of cloud cover to central Indiana, which means cooler temperatures for Hoosiers who have dealt with an unusually hot September. But even though Hoosiers will get a break from the heat, there will be one little side effect of the rain.

“We’re looking at highs in the upper 70s, but with rain and dew points near 70, it’s going to feel sticky out there,” says Updike.
