STATEWIDE–The National Weather Service has confirmed that three tornadoes touched down in central Indiana Saturday night.

One of them was an EF1 in Shelby County. The other two were EF0 tornadoes in Johnson and Brown counties.

“There was an assortment of damage. It was, for the most part, pretty minor. There was some minor structural damage and then there were also some trees and power lines that were down. Thankfully, there were no injuries or fatalities,” said Randy Bowers, meteorologist with National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

A steeple at a church was blown over. Widespread straight-line winds of 80 to 90 mph created significant uprooted and broken trees.

“An EF0 gives you up to 85 mph winds. An EF1 usually gives you the 86-110 mph wind range. We’re lucky that we didn’t have to go higher than that,” said Bowers.

Bowers says temperatures will gradually warm up throughout the week, but the chances of rain return.
