INDIANAPOLIS — Shots were fired outside of a jewelry store inside Circle Centre Mall in downtown Indianapolis Monday afternoon.

Police say they are looking for two people. One who they say was the thief who tried to steal necklaces by jumping over the counter of the store. Another who fired a shot at the thief as he ran towards the food court.

“No customers were injured to our knowledge at this point, as well as no employees,” said IMPD public information officer William Young. “If there was one shot or multiple shots that will come out in the investigation too.”

“I was outside the store waiting for customers to come in,” said Madison Carter, who works at a store just below Twin Jewelers where the shooting happened at around 2:30 p.m. “And then we heard a big bang and we just saw people sprinting and yelling, saying there was a shooter.”

Police asked all stores to close inside the mall shortly after arriving there so they could investigate.
