INDIANAPOLIS — Big changes are coming to Powerball this month.

Monday Drawing

Powerball is adding a Monday drawing, the Hoosier Lottery announced Tuesday.

The first Monday drawing will be held on Aug. 23 at 10:59 p.m. ET.

Players will be able to purchase tickets for the Aug. 23 drawing beginning Sunday, Aug. 22.

Adding the third drawing will not change the Powerball game odds or the cash prizes.

The Power Play add-on feature will also be available for an additional $1 per play to multiply non-jackpot prizes and will only apply to prizes won in the Powerball drawing.

Indiana had the very first Powerball jackpot winner in 1992 and leads the nation in Powerball jackpot wins with 39.

Double Play

The Double Play add-on feature is new to Indiana. Players can add the feature to their Powerball ticket for $1. Double Play gives players another chance to match their Powerball numbers in a separate drawing with a top cash prize of $10 million.

The Double Play drawing will be held after every Powerball drawing on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday beginning Monday, Aug. 23.
