Protests Continue Over The Weekend In Indianapolis, Fort Wayne
STATEWIDE — More peaceful protests happened in the two biggest cities in Indiana on Sunday.
In Fort Wayne, Black Lives Matter protesters marched to Allen County prosecutor Karen Richards’ house to demand she drop charges against anyone arrested for “non-violent charges” during peaceful protests over the last few weeks.
Richards was home when the protesters arrived and she even came out to talk with the protesters directly.
In Indianapolis, dozens of people took part Sunday in a “White Silence is Violence” march hosted by Indiana Racial Justice Alliance and partner organization Allies For Action.
Dante Fratturo, a speaker for Indiana Racial Justice Alliance, said they won’t be satisfied until their requests are fulfilled.
“To defund IMPD (Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department) and refund the community, create an external review board, implement said review board and require the FOP to have their own liability insurance,” Fratturo said to WISH-TV.
The group chanted demands through streets stopping in front of the Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police building on Washington Street. Protesters even marched all the way to the home of IMPD Chief Randal Taylor.
