WESTFIELD, Ind. – The country’s 51st Safe Haven Baby Box has been installed at a fire station in Westfield.

The baby box is located at Fire Station #83 at 17944 Grassy Branch Road. It is the 47th baby box in Indiana.

The box will be available to the public after a Friday morning unveiling ceremony.

In 2020, five babies have been dropped off in baby boxes.  Since the first baby box was installed in 2016, nine babies have been dropped off.

Indiana’s Safe Haven Law allows parents to anonymously surrender their healthy newborn without fear of criminal prosecution at any fire station, police station, or hospital as long as the child appears to be 30 days or less and unharmed.
