SPEEDWAY, Ind. — Scott Dixon took the checkered flag at the GMR Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday.
The win is Dixon’s second race win in a row in the 2020 NTT IndyCar Series season.
“As soon as we got the balance right the PNC Bank number-9 car just checked out,” Dixon said. “Graham Rahal was super fast. I could believe his pace on the black tires. I messed up in qualifying yesterday but it was good to bounce back.”
Rahal finished second on a two-pit stop strategy and defending race winner Simon Pagenaud battled back from a 20th starting spot and finished third.
It’s Rahal’s first podium finish in more than a year.
The win by Dixon marks the first time in the history of the GMR Grand Prix that a driver other than a Team Penske driver has won the event. In the races six years of existence, Will Power and Simon Pagenaud each have won the race three times.
