TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – A Vigo County Deputy has been hospitalized after being attacked Saturday morning.

The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office says Jonathan Crabb had a warrant out for his arrest and was found in the area of Lafayette and East Hollywood Avenues.

The deputy said Crabb ran toward him yelling ‘shoot me’ and started an altercation. The Vigo County Sheriff’s Department says officers with the Terre Haute Police Department were nearby and responded after hearing the struggle over 911 radio traffic. One of the law enforcement officers on the scene deployed a taser on Crabb.

Both the deputy and Crabb were taken to an area hospital for treatment. Sheriff John Plasse said Saturday afternoon that the Deputies’ injuries were not severe or life-threatening. The name of the Deputy has not yet been released.

Jail records show that Crabb has been booked into the Vigo County Jail on four previous occasions after being arrested by West Terre Haute Police.

Previous arrest charges include public intoxication, residential entry, and intimidation.
