INDIANAPOLIS–Six people were killed in a Sunday morning shooting on the east side of Indianapolis, including a pregnant woman and her unborn child.
The shooting happened about 4 a.m. on Adams St., just south of the 38th and Keystone intersection. Indianapolis Metro Police Dept. Chief Randal Taylor called it the largest mass shooting in more than a decade.

Police said a child was taken to Riley Children’s Health when they arrived on scene on 36th St. Information they were able to obtain led them to the Adams St. address, where they found five people shot, including the pregnant woman.
She was taken to the hospital where doctors tried to save her baby, but were unable.
“This does not appear to be a random act,” said Sgt. Shane Foley, with IMPD’s North District.
“What happened this morning was not an act of simple gun violence,” said Mayor Joe Hogsett. “What happened this morning was a mass murder…This is a crisis of morality, a crisis of conscience.”
Hogsett said he had been in contact with federal authorities.
“I want those responsible to know that the full might of law enforcement…is coming for them, as we speak.”
No identities were released Sunday afternoon.
