WASHINGTON–The first infrastructure bill was passed Friday night with no Republican support from Indiana’s Congressional delegation. Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-Ind.), warns that the next bill, which is expected to cost $1.7 trillion, will hurt rural Indiana and rural America the most.

“We have $29 trillion of debt. We have two major programs going bankrupt, Medicare and Social Security, very soon, and we’re talking about more spending,” said Spartz, on Sunday’s “Fox and friends”.

Democrats made a deal to pass the next bill around Nov. 15.

Spartz, who migrated to the U.S. from the Ukraine, calls the bill “social spending”, and warns that it will boost inflation.

“Inflation is a highly regressive tax. If you think about what these prices are doing to middle-class and lower income people, it’s actually destroying opportunity for them.”

While the bill promises no tax on the poor or middle-class directly, and taxes the wealthiest Americans to pay for the spending, Spartz believes that the inflation factor will actually make it much tougher for people to pay for food, gas and propane, while winter is coming.

“They’re using gimmicks of accounting, very murky math to pay for it,” she said. “It also gives large subsidies to states with high taxes, it’s going to give wealthy people in states like New York more subsidies and people in states like Indiana are going to have to pay for it.”

Spartz said the Biden administration, in her eyes, has a bad energy policy, which is leading to higher prices.

“We already have a 70 percent increase in propane prices, which will really hurt rural America a lot. But, if our winter is a little bit colder than expected, we might see doubling of the prices.”
