INDIANAPOLIS — It was one of the most violent weekends Indy has seen this year between Saturday and Sunday.

Over the weekend Indianapolis Metro Police responded to ten different shootings, in which 14 people were wounded, and six people were killed.

The tally includes the five people shot outside of a funeral home along 30th Street on Saturday. Two shootings were self-inflicted gunshots, says Ofc. Genae Cook.

The first fatal shooting of the weekend happened on the west side late Saturday night near Rockville Road and I-465. A man was found shot in an apartment complex along Coquina Key Drive. He was taken to the hospital where he died.

Then early Sunday morning at around 1:30 a.m. police responded to a man shot and killed at a home along Redfern Drive near Sherman and I-465 on the south side.

A couple of hours later, police got a call about shots fired in the St. Joseph Historic Neighborhood along Pennsylvania Street downtown. They arrived to find a man dead of gunshot wounds. He was found dead “on the patio of the business” near the parking lot, said Cook.

Late Sunday night at around 10:00 p.m. two more people were found shot to death near Sherman and 34th Street on the northeast side.

Finally, a person was found shot and killed in Englewood on the east side along 35th Street.
