STATEWIDE — Incumbent Gov. Eric Holcomb secured four more years in the Governor’s Mansion along Meridian Street.

The race was called relatively early in the election night with Holcomb winning 57-percent of the vote in Indiana. Democratic challenger Dr. Woody Myers came up short with 30-percent and Libertarian Donald Rainwater took home 12-percent.

“Oh what a night,” Holcomb exclaimed in his victory speech. “Over the last few years, together we achieved a lot! Record-high wages, record low infant mortality, providing tens of thousands of Hoosiers with the skills they need to compete in a 21st-century economy, and much, much more.”

“I spoke with Gov. Eric Holcomb and congratulated him on his victory,” said Myers in a concession speech. “We have seen an unprecedented turnout nationwide in the last 30-days. Despite four to six-hour lines. That must be nurtured, not suppressed, or ignored.”

In the race for president, Indiana was one of the first states to be called for President Donald Trump. As of midnight Wednesday morning Trump had secured victories in every county in Indiana except Marion, Tippecanoe, Monroe, and Lake Counties.

The presidential race has still not been called as of midnight Wednesday morning.
