INDIANAPOLIS — Police have provided an update about a shooting Wednesday morning on the city’s northeast side.

A 14-year-old was initially believed to have been grazed by a bullet. However, investigators have determined that the teenager’s injuries were “likely from debris and not consistent with a gunshot wound”.

A 4-year-old was taken to Riley Hospital for Children after being shot in the leg and is in stable condition.


INDIANAPOLIS — Shots fired outside of a home on the city’s northeast side wounded two kids inside the home.

Just after 1 a.m., officers were called to a house along East 42nd Street, between Post Road and Mitthoeffer Road. After arriving on the scene, officers determined that a four-year-old and a 14-year-old had both been hit by shots originating from outside the house.

Police said 4-year-old has been transported to Riley Hospital for Children after being shot in the leg and is stable. The 14-year-old, police said, was grazed by a bullet and treated then released on scene.

Wednesday’s shooting comes less than a week after 12-year old Day’Shawn Bills was shot and killed by a stray bullet.
