GREENWOOD, Ind.–Two teenagers were hit by a person driving a Chevy Traverse early Wednesday morning just west of U.S. 31 in Johnson County.

The Greenwood Police Department says they were called to the scene near Worthsville Road and U.S. 31 around 4:30 am and found the two teenagers (ages 15 and 17) injured from the collision.

Both of them were taken to hospitals. Greenwood Police Department Assistant Chief Matt Fillenwarth says they are “listed in stable condition.” Fillenwarth also says there was a third “friend” of the teenagers there that did not get hit, so he saw what happened.

“Based on his description and some of the debris we found in the roadway, right now we’re trying to find a 2009-2012 Chevrolet Traverse with heavy front end damage,” said Filenwarth.

The driver is described as a heavyset white male with brown hair. He was wearing what appeared to be hospital scrubs.

Fillenwarth says the Traverse was last seen going west on Worthsville Road after it hit the two boys.

The intersection was shut down for a few hours but reopened around 7:45 am.

If you have any information, you should contact the Greenwood Police Department.
