LOGANSPORT, Ind.–One of the U.S. Marines killed in Thursday’s bombing at an airport in Kabul, Afghanistan was from Logansport.

Corporal Humberto Sanchez was stationed in Afghanistan and helping with the withdrawal effort at the airport when a suicide bomber caused an explosion that killed 13 U.S. service members and at least 165 Afghans.

Sanchez’s death was also confirmed by two family members.

The Taliban has taken back control of Afghanistan two decades after they were pushed out in a U.S.-led invasion following the 9/11 attacks. Their return to power has terrified many Afghans, who have rushed to flee the country ahead of the American withdrawal.
