INDIANAPOLIS — A 17-year-old student at Warren Central High School is facing two counts of murder, after a fatal shooting on the northeast side of Indianapolis.

The shooting happened at a Phillips 66 gas station at 38th and Mitthoeffer. That’s north of John Marshall High School.

Police say the entire crime, which happened on May 21, was caught on surveillance footage.

After stepping out of a gray Ford Fusion with a gun, 17-year-old Kelyn Harris went inside the Phillips 66 gas station and started shooting. Harris was accompanied by 21-year-old William T. Glasper, who did not fire any shots, despite having a gun.

23-year-old Frederick Leon Small and 18-year-old Ezekiel Watkins were killed in the shooting. Another man was injured.

Harris was identified by witnesses at the scene of the crime. The witnesses said they knew who Harris was, because they attended school together.

Because Harris is 17, the murder charged was filed in adult court. State law says that anyone 16 or older accused of murder does not have to be waived over from the juvenile court system.

Harris was tracked down and arrested in Harris County, Texas, on July 9, IMPD confirmed Friday. He faces two counts of murder.

Glasper also faces a felony charge of assisting a criminal when the criminal committed murder, and two counts of carrying a handgun without a license.
